DESIGN NAME: Exotic Jewellers
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Jewellery Store
INSPIRATION: The goal of this project is to design a luxury jewellery store in north of Tehran. This metaphoric composition is inspired by goldmines and the co-occurrence of gold, rock and crystal. Gold, this seductive metal, encased in rocks is a prime motivation to explore harsh underground mines conditions. The harder one tries, the more precious is the outcome. Attributes such as dark, mysterious, impressive, creative, shiny, edgy were some of the keywords in the design guideline.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Given the guideline of the project, the rock shape is used as a defining element of this interior design. The space is a modern, minimalist and edgy interpretation of a gold mine space with streaks of gold and giant clear crystals, which are common in goldmines, as decorative elements and jewelry display units.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Entrance reminds you of secretive spirit of goldmines with bold geometric forms. Being surrounded by matte black rocks of Corian with cracks of golden plated bronze sheets, one get the impression of exploration for the most precious unknown. Large crystal glass displays are formed randomly in the interior space and some bold outgrowth of the wall transformed into hand-made crystal glass add to the exotic feature of the space. Together with the luminous floor of Onyx, one will have a unique experience of luxury jewellery shopping.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: 42 days took to accomplish the design and research phases.
FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Interior Space and Exhibition Design

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: More than 600 parts of matte black Corian are attached with a special resin to make an integrated black structure without visible seams in order to have an impressive dark interior. Each facet is precisely cut using CNC machine. Gold cracks on walls are made of gold-plated bronze sheets and the floor is made of the Ice Onyx slab to achieve the desired contrast and shine. All in-laid displays are made of crystal glass with an anti-reflex fabric covering the inner space for best presentation of jewellery pieces. The chairs are made seamlessly through casting molten glass in a cast iron mold.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Design dimensions: 12.7m x 6.7m x 5.8m
TAGS: Generative design, metamorphosis, abstraction, variable surfaces, triangulation
RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Broad research was conducted on the random and nonlinear geometry and formation systems of minerals which are generated from primitive shapes through triangulation process.
CHALLENGE: The main challenge was in design aesthetic and how to convert intangible concepts into appealing physical forms. Next, was thinking of solutions for the technical issues.
