INSPIRATION:
The inspiration for Hyku's website showcases a strong sense of interactions and e-commerce. Hyku's platform allows the users to perform a variety of engaging actions while they watch the videos. Also, it will enable users to buy what they see on the screen, a feature that is new to the television and media industry. The website aims to capture the essence of Hyku's interactivity, in a form that is aesthetically pleasing and eye-catching for the audience.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
This website showcases Hyku’s critical features in an aesthetically pleasing layout. It also allows the users to see the critical attributes of Hyku immediately and to pinpoint what makes Hyku unique and special. The website also acts as a gateway for users to upload videos, which are posted on Hyku's mobile application. The upload process is rather simple and straightforward but gives users full control.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
The website is a standard website format to promote familiarity. Users can scroll through the main page to see the different Hyku features, and they can further find resources beyond the main page, should they want to explore more. The pages also auto scroll, adding to the stunning visual effects.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
This project started in June 2017 and finished in September 2017. Since that date, there is significant traffic on the site and active engagement from users. Hyku’s website was showcased as a part of Hyku during the RISE conference in June 2017, Tech in Asia Tokyo in September 2017, Tech in Asia Jakarta in November 2017, Web Summit in November 2017, Tech Crunch Shanghai in November 2017, Slush Helsinki in November 2017 and BVE London in February 2018

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
Empirical research is conducted into making the website both appealing and clear. Poll, questions, and answers were gathered by the website design team over a period of three months to perfect the website's design.

CHALLENGE:
The challenge of fitting in a secure message into the first few seconds of viewing is the balance between attractiveness and clarity. The user's attention needs to be grabbed and held while maintaining a robust and informative message. This is what Hyku's website aims to achieve.

Hyku

PROFILE:
Hyku is a television and second screen application, available for Android or Apple devices. Backed by twenty-two patents, Hyku’s main feature syncs mobile phone content with shows on television or streamed programming directly on the application itself. All content is created by the show’s own production team, and is accurately synced to within a second when the show airs for the first time. Examples of content include background music available for download, merchandise or shirts available for instant purchase, or relevant pictures and information. Other features allow users to vote, to answer trivia questions or to interact in other ways. The goal is to provide an enhanced second screen experience, with more clickable content and interactions, all synced along with the television program. Additionally, Hyku’s features include a social network, which connects its many users through messages and shared content – creating a community of interacting fans. For sports television, Hyku Duels is a built-in game, which is a patent-pending user versus user wagering system. Lastly, Hyku ties it all together with a virtual economy, allowing users to earn coins, redeemable for real products in its marketplace. All Hyku’s features are combined with an aesthetically-pleasing design. This simple, yet intuitive user interface accentuates Hyku’s advantages, while reducing the learning curve.
