PRIMARY FUNCTION: WiFi router
INSPIRATION: The M2 Router's design has considered functionality, aesthetics, and flexibility.
First, structural design is paramount to support components, carry out essential functions and minimize system noise. For example, the M2 has an air vented hood to reduce overheating.
Secondly, the M2's minimalistic approach sits comfortably in the homes and fits most decors.
Lastly, every home's blueprint is different, and the M2 system allows users to connect several units to maximize Wi-Fi coverage.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Mercku M2 WiFi Router combines revolutionary industrial design, with cutting edge technology. WiFi speed and coverage issues are solved, as this unique system can transmit information and reach a range that is twenty percent better than current products.
This system has meshed network capabilities, connecting multiple M2 units, building a stronger network overall. Also, the M2 Routers supports signal boosters, extend the range, giving users full wireless coverage of their homes.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The strong performance from the M2 Wi-Fi Router is driven by antenna design, transceiver power, and system noise reduction.
The antenna uses a patented design, originated by the team that revolutionized smartphones. The transceiver is built in-house, resulting in much more efficiency. Lastly, the Wi-Fi has reduced system noise, applying theories crafted over the past decade - all resulting in superior performance.
This product is easy to use and starts working the moment it's plugged in.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This project began in September 2017 and designs finished in November 2017. The M2 Wi-Fi Routers were exhibited at Web Summit in November 2017 and CES in January 2018
This system has already started shipping products to early adopters.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The M2 WiFi Router sets out to solve the problem of poor WiFi connectivity. More than 500 candidates from personal connections, and randomized outreach on LinkedIn where polled. Both qualitative and quantitative questions were asked.
This research concluded that more than fifty percent of people have areas of low WiFi connectivity, and they desire flexibility since all homes are unique.
Thus, the concept of the M2 WiFi router was born, and the ability to link up many router units.
CHALLENGE: The hardest challenge in the design process is balancing performance and aesthetics. The product, according to the research, needed to fit nicely within the decors of a home, be relatively small, but yet boast market-leading performance.
The challenge manifested itself when the device, small, can easily overheat, but adding in a big heat sink will create a clumsy design. Thus, an innovative heat vent was added to the top of the unit, preserving functionality, without sacrificing design.
