| DESIGN NAME: Bebek House PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residence INSPIRATION: Bebek, being one of the most distinguished and high-end neighborhoods in Istanbul, is one of the few spots that hugs the Bosphorus without compromising the modernism and history. Hosting an educated, creative and globalist people with its socio-cultural structure, Bebek inspired us to form the artisan identity of the house. Both its secluded characteristics and its direct connection to the sea provide one with solitude and being sociable at the same time. And this abstractly depicts the spot as a person who has the grip of hisher own disciplines. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: In order to turn spaces that have relatively low ceilings into bold and unique houses, we needed a clear architectural language. Instead of going for the functional sense fearing from these restrictive features of the house, We challenged ourselves to have a new say. We put the color black and the art notion into our spine. Finally, We tried to design an introvert place that has spaces and areas for functional solutions in every way and has an intellectual character with art pieces. It is possible to define the interaction between the design and decoration as aesthetical beauty, conformism and practical use. I believe we got the right balance by coming up specific solutions for each place. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Before designing the living spaces of the house which flow into one another, we took into account the daily routines, behavior and tendencies of the residents as much as the identity of the vicinity. From the main living spaces that hug the sea view and thus forming a deeper sense-although they do not have high ceilings-to the personal living spaces that focus on a cacoonlike sense of privacy, it was a must that every corner was according to the residents’ habits and the colour,form,material PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: 2015 may till 2016 december Location: Bebek,Istanbul FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Interior Space and Exhibition Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: We preferred natural materials to get balance for a space that was loud. Thanks to the natural materials such as wood, marble, glass and brass, we got both the contemporary of decoration” and the date of the future. On the other hand, we cleansed the house of the fittings and installations through underfloor heating, ventilation system built-in the chimney space. We reinforced the nature-structure interaction by providing entrance to the garden from every floor. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 300 m2 4 level TAGS: contemprorary, inspare,residence,in RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Before designing the living spaces of the house which flow into one another, we took into account the daily routines, behavior and tendencies of the residents as much as the identity of the vicinity. CHALLENGE: It was a real challenge for us to turn the disadvantage of the low ceiling that cause a much smaller feeling into an advantage by giving the ceiling a patterned surface. As an architect, I like battle, so we went further and we applied black parquet to the floor and so we drew a line between the decoration, the artwork and the floor. NAME: Bou Interior& Architecture PROFILE: Being an architect does not differ from one’s relations with her environment, being a mother, being a friend, being a manager. The way you perceive life and you render it to give it back should be the same no matter which hat you are wearing and wherever you are. So, I assess everything around me through a sense of meaning and value. And while doing so my essential base and criterion is honesty. Honesty and clarity has been the founding of my working and living principles.Because, this is the only way to establish the right relation; whether it is a house or a personal relationship. Due to the nature of creativity, we may be supposed to create dreams and fantasies, but I have never kept my hands off reality. The reality may not be fancy, ornate and sophisticated but it sure is candid. |
