| DESIGN NAME: Osvaldo PRIMARY FUNCTION: Table clock INSPIRATION: Design and name take inspiration from an old italian cartoon from the '60s and '70s called "La Linea" by Osvaldo Cavandoli. As the character of this cartoon, Osvaldo shape is sinuous, dynamic and distinctive. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Osvaldo is a table clock made in ceramic. This project starts from the desire to create a table clock with sinuous shapes, designed with a single soft and harmonious stroke of pencil. The result is a character that seeks an empathic relationship with the observer, placing itself as an active element of the home or office system. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The interaction with Osvaldo is wither than the one with a standard table clock, because besides telling you what time it is, Osvaldo represents a sort of character that animates the desk and creates a continuous relationship with the interlocutor. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project took around six months, developed between Milano and Manzano. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Furniture Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The body is made in ceramic and hands on the prototype are med with 3D printing SLA technology, while for the production are in metal. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 145 mm wide, 135 mm depth, 215 mm height. TAGS: Tableclock, clock, time, design, productdesign, decorative, mrsmithstudio RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Firs part of the research focused on table clock for home-office applications. Second phase of research focused on ceramic and production techniques. Last part of the research sealed with suppliers. CHALLENGE: Osvaldo is made with very few pieces: body, hands and mechanism. Therefore all of this elements had to be in perfect harmony one with the others. Finding suppliers able to provide the right elements has been quite hard.
