| DESIGN NAME: Personal Tea Tray PRIMARY FUNCTION: Personal Tea Tray INSPIRATION: Dimension is a basic concept of geometry and space theory. Zero-dimension is an infinitesimal point. One-dimension is an infinite line with only length. Two-dimensions is a plane. Plus the height, the concept of three-dimensions。 Using the height gradient drop to form the change of 2-dimension to 3-dimension, the design could satisfy the using needs while exploring the administrative levels of simple style. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Wei, looking modern & simple style, is a kind of personal tea tray. It is made by black stone, using the height of the gradient drops to form 2 dimension to 3 dimension's change, which can satisfy the condition that the tea can flow from high to low during the producing process. Moreover, the hidden drain is put in the lowest area of the disk, which has no influence on the shape or drainage. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The teapot is usually placed high and the cup is placed low while making tea. So as to the tea water will flow from high to low through the gradient of the disk height, which provides convenience to use. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The design began in xiamen in April 2017 and completed in December 2017. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The design uses PROE to build a 3-dimension model, use CNC to process stone material and use polished fire for surface treatment. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: width 250mm x depth 250mm x height30mm TAGS: Stone, simple, tea tray, Oriental aesthetics RESEARCH ABSTRACT: By studying the process of traditional Chinese tea brewing, the high and low gradient of the tea tray is designed to match the users' daily behaviors and to achieve the goal of natural interaction. As a better kind of natural material for tea disk carrier, stone is more waterproof and wear-resisting than others. CHALLENGE: As the hidden outlet is inclined to open slot, CNC machining is difficult to realize itself. But combineing with some manual processing operation would solve the problem perfect.
