PRIMARY FUNCTION: Pendant Lamp
INSPIRATION: The basic shape of the lamp was inspired by modern statuary, and natural phenomena (swirls in rivers). Contemporary architecture, such as Santiago Calatrava's works also made an influance principally on the layout of the aluminium poles on the outer shade.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The aim of the project was to make a particularly elegant lamp, which can be a compelling and prominent element of the room by itself. This effect gets emphasized by the ever changing shades of the anodized aluminium poles depending on light condition.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Diva is part of a new lamp family, it can be used as a single unit, or combined with other types. There's a wide variety of options to create a unique atmosphere.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project began in February 2017 in Budapest and finished in March 2018

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The lamp's form is defined by the anodized aluminium poles, fixed in a 3D printed ring, around a circle in specific angles. The shape of the integrated internal white glass follows the main shade of the poles. With the LED bulb inside, it provides stray light sideways, and more concentrated light downwards. All variety of the E27 LED bulbs with different colour temperatures is applicable. The usage of aluminium poles ensue a surprisingly light framework.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Diva is available in two sizes.
Small - height: 740mm, diameter: 440mm, weight is about 3kg.
Large - height: 950mm, diameter: 560mm, weight is about 4,5kg. Colours of the metal parts: pearl, almond, or grey. Ring colour: black. Lightsource: E27 LED, max 12W.
Delivered as partly assembled to reduce the size of the package, final assembly after shipping according to the provided manuals.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Until the final form of Diva was realized, diverse prototypes has been constructed to get the best possible look. All the angles, number and diameter of poles, the final colors, the exact shape of the ring, the glass shade was researched in many ways. We have also made numerous experiments with the SLS (selective laser sintering) technology, to reach the desired quality and perfect assembly tolerances for the manufacturing of the product.
CHALLENGE: The clearness of the design was one of the main intentions during the whole development period. That meant that no visible fastening elements were allowed. On the other hand, the lamp was designed to be able to assemble after delivery, resulting in a much smaller package for shipping. These two objectives together required the invention of an ingenious, yet simple solution to completely hide the fastening elements for the poles. Probably this was the hardest part of the development.
