The Manzil project was inspired from an Arabic couple who had decided to migrate to Malaysia for good. The longing feeling for their home are something one cannot be cured. The only way was creating a familiar space that reminds them of their home country.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Even though Malaysia is an Islamic country but every country's culture and belief could be difference. The outcome from this exploration are a series of possibilities. Their difference living culture are one of the key point as many knows Arabian loves hosting guest. Their warm hospitality was depicted in the space design and not to forget adding luxuriousness into it. The use of Islamic was placed into the design to add the touch. The boldness in the colour selection was done carefully as the bridge between over the top and unique characteristic are just one fine line.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
Building up the Islamic pattern on the screen was one of the hiccups of the project as one know Islamic pattern are built up from the infinity of geometric pattern being repeatedly formed into a symmetrical. These can be found in the walls of the living space, ceramic tiles, vessel sinks and on glassware. The geometry form on the wall was done using laser cutting method and as for bed head, a craftsman master was hired into this job to finish it off. The Arch or mashrabiya was build with latticework, these were depicted around the space as it is a on of the element in the Arabic.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
The process of marry is a process bringing two different individual into one. This terms can be applied into this project as marrying Arabic style which consist the mixture of Moroccan and Mediterranean styles with Malaysia. This was one of the eye opening research because even though Malaysia are Islamic country but yet the culture are different. Their belief and culture are not entirely the same from Malaysian. And this resulted a very good marriage that had been reflected in this project.

CHALLENGE:
Balancing their culture are one of the challenge as when it is too much it could create a suffocation in terms of space. Thus, marrying Moroccan and Mediterranean styles are one of the key directions that was being considered and adding a touch of Modernism are like putting a cherry on top. Bridging between simplicity and luxuriousness by using the colour, pattern and materials to the interior space. Also, stratifying client preferences and requirements.
