| DESIGN NAME: Sleek Silhouettes PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential Interior Design INSPIRATION: Clutter-free, organic and sustainable are the impressions of this abode. Nature has always been our source of inspiration. We accentuate its beauty by infusing earth tone and neutral finishes. Designer conformed to principle of functional minimalism by sleek storage and concealed obstructing beams for flush-fitting appearance. All these contribute to a clean and bright abode and stylish retreat from hectic city life. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Walls between original rooms were knocked down for bigger master bedroom, en suite bathroom and two work spaces divided by sliding door. Modest color scheme of grey was used in living and kitchen area to set vibrant and organic accents.With a slim, linear floor cabinet lining one side of the home, a natural flow into common area is achieved. While interior is neat and simple, technological aspects are not primitive–home appliances and lights can be operated by voice for smart living experience. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Smart system was implanted in the project and with the knowledge infused by the homeowner, it was a hurdle to start with but a smooth transaction to follow. It is an enlightening journey to work out the overall system with the homeowner and it is surely a pleasing result to see how the smart home systems worked so well with the overall design PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project finished in 2017 in Hong Kong. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: While the interior design is neat and simple, its technological aspects are never primitive – plenty of home appliances and lighting fixtures can be operated by voice command for a genuine smart living experience. A voice command control service was added to the interior design to allow more convenient, hassle-free and personalized experience. By using this intelligent system, homeowners can control different smart home devices including lighting, electric roller blinds, entertainment devices and audio system by having voice command or simply navigate using their smart phones. The system not only controls the on/off of the devices, but also providing settings for different scenarios. Time and energy is efficiently saved with the assistance of these smart devices. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: - TAGS: Organic, airy, transparent, seamless, smart RESEARCH ABSTRACT: A harmonious balance between the designer's signature aesthetics and a dose of unique character was the brief given by the homeowner. Lots of research and design were done to maximise functionality by creating different zones within the 821-sq.ft limited space. CHALLENGE: Advanced smart home system were implanted, designer had to ensure it deliver a clean and minimal elevations throughout the design. The smart system can be enhanced in the future where technology allows. The design had to be of top-notch and durable elements that can withstand the test of time.
