DESIGN NAME: Space
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Pendant Lamp
INSPIRATION: Space's form was primarly inspired by asteroids' orbits, and the impact of gravity of celestial bodies on these orbits. The invisible lines connecting the ends of the poles are meant to visualize that. Naturally this is an imaginary infinite orb.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The aim of this unconventional form is to make it a compelling and prominent element of the room by itself. This effect gets emphasized by the ever changing shades of glitter of the anodized aluminium poles depending on light condition.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Space is part of a new lamp family, it can be used as a single unit, or combined with other types. There's a wide variety of options to create a unique atmosphere.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project began in April 2017 in Budapest and finished in March 2018.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The lamp's form is defined by the anodized aluminium poles, fixed in a 3D printed ring, following a specific geometry. This shape is integrated with the internal white glass with a Led bulb inside, and its stray light. All variety of the E27 Led bulbs with different colour temperatures is applicable. Despite it's relatively large size, the usage of aluminium ensue a surprisingly light framework.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Dimensions: height: 960mm, diameter: 640mm, weight: about 3kg.
Colour of the metal parts: pearl, almond, or grey.
Ring colour: black.
Bulb: E27 Led, max 12W
Delivered as partly assembled to reduce the size of the package, final assembly after shipping according to the provided manuals.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: To find the basic form of the lamp went relatively smooth. However a series of researches has been accomplished with numerous prototypes to ensure the best look from all possible angle.
The light source and the inner glass shade were also examined in many variations until we found the proper solution.
We have performed several experiments with the Sls (selective laser sintering) technology, to reach the desired quality and perfect assembly for the manufacturing of the product. We managed to harmonize the design with the technology to be able to produce relatively larger quantities economically.
CHALLENGE: The primary challenge was the complex shape's feasibility, easy assembly and the adaptability of the Sls technology to the lamp family. During evolving, particular attention was paid to the clearness of the design and to cover the technical details and fastenings as much as possible. This was especially hard task, since the lamp is delivered as partly assembled in order to reduce package size.
