| DESIGN NAME: Best of Both Worlds PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential Interior Design INSPIRATION: The inspiration comes from users’ experiences of living in New York and their passionate about cosmopolitan lifestyle. The essence lies within a soaring ceiling, a spacious environment as well as a distressed and mysterious sense of raw industrial vibe. To create a space that is tailor-made for clients, each individual’s need and want, as booklovers in this case, have to be taken into consideration, search for a balance between aesthetics and practicality, and generate a harmonious mixture. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Lofty abode was curated to meet users’ passionate on cosmopolitan style. Through meticulous curation of wrought iron, bricks and wood, designer has woven a design language that is chic and modern without looking overly stern and cold. Through wrought iron-framed glass doors at the entryways, fluidity and transparency are accentuated to echo with New York loft-style vibe. The 3.1-meter high ceiling was utilized to build a bookshelf with a wrought iron ladder for easy accessibility. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: To make use of the 3.1 high ceiling, designer built a 3-level bookshelf above the TV and entertainment systems for the book-lover homeowner. Completing the picture is a black wrought iron ladder added to the setting for easy accessibility. Designer was able to deliver a harmonious mixture of homeowners’ criteria and their signature way of design. Through close communication with the homeowners who are passionate about cosmopolitan lifetyle in a compact space, designer had found a balance between aesthetics and practicality. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: A stone and rustic slate finishes material was picked to dress up the corridor space and it emerged the lofty and raw design theme from the living area to the rooms. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: - TAGS: Loft, stylish, chic, harmony, aesthetic RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The brief is to deliver a design that echo with the principle of New York loft-style vibe where the homeowners were relocated from. Having to make use of the soaring 3.1m height ceiling and to create a shine corner that's chic and modern in this 889 sq.ft abode. CHALLENGE: To created a multi-functional room which consists of a study, a guest bedroom and a solemn corner especially for the devoted Buddhist to practice Buddhism yet in a modern finishes and a high regard for traditions.
