DESIGN DETAILS
DESIGN NAME:
Ausos

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Lamp and Chandelier

INSPIRATION:
At the latitude of Moscow, the minimal duration of day is 7 hours. In December, the sun rises around 9 a.m., which is about 2-3 hours later than the average wake-up time. This leads to disruption of circadian rhythms and stress for the human body. These lamps created to overcome that problem since they have dawn-simulating function integrated with smartphone alarm-clock

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Ausos luminaries are designed to help residents of northern countries, who for a significant part of the year are forced to get up in the dark. At the same time they are not just light alarm clocks, but spectacular lamps that serve as the primary or additional source of light.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
Lighting control is carried out through a mobile application that is integrated with the smartphone alarm clock. So, there is no need to set the alarm time, melody and so on each time. All you need is to connect the device once, activate the light alarm function and everything will be done according your usual rituals, with the additional dawn-simulating light and without any additional devices, just with an ordinary lamp/chandelier

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project started in January 2017 in Moscow and finished in February 2017 in Moscow

FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY:
Lighting Products and Fixtures Design

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
As a light source, there is used bright RGB LED strip and to make the light soft and comfortable for people eyes both lamps have reflectors made from steel. The reflectors are covered with a special silver diffusing finish, which has a 90% reflectance to minimize the light loss and provide energy-effecting device. Both lamps have specially programmed controller and software for smartphone to manage it through bluetooth network

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
Table Lamp: Width - up to 620 mm, Depth - 220 mm, Height - up to 500 mm. Chandelier: Width - 740 mm, Depth - 740 mm, Height - 380 mm.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
I have researched several lamps with enhanced functionality, but most models on the market are utilitarian objects made from plastic. I wanted to combine high technology and aesthetics in one object and create an object with attractive visual appearance to fit most interiors. That is why I used good quality materials, such as copper and steel

CHALLENGE:
Both of lamps are smart lamps with LED strip light source, therefore the design of both the lamp and the chandelier had to provide space for additional devices, such as a power supply, a controller and an infrared sensor swith. Since the lamps are made of metal, it was also important to ensure that there was no blockage of the bluetooth signal from the smartphone to the controller.
