DESIGN NAME: Freedom Collection
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Inspirational Jewellery
INSPIRATION: Heartened by the personal story of a client who found her courage and inner strength as a single mother to her two beloved sons, Faith was commissioned to create for her the original Freedom ring to celebrate her newfound freedom.
Dressed in gorgeous rose gold, subtle curves portray the gentle spirit of a woman while the broad facet reflect her generous and giving heart. The trilogy of diamonds represent each gem of a child whom she loves dearly, close to her heart & a reminder of self love. This first ring inspired the birth of the suite of Freedom collection.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Stripping away complexity and distilling design to a clean aesthetic of sweeping concave curves, each jewel is crafted to fit perfectly on each client, customizable to the number of gems or diamonds and materials. The concave sweep in each Freedom jewel catches light and returns its brilliance with the strategic placement of each diamond.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The unique contact points between diamond and wearer in each piece of the collection is a tactile and strong reminder to the individual the meaning and personal story, woven into a work of art.
Rose gold being the main material, there is the choice in titanium for its durability and dark steel grey color, hugely popular with male clients.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The design was first discussed in June 2017 and after several revisions, was completed in October 2017. The collection to match and continue the inspiration and sharing a voice of hope was designed and created in November 2017.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: First moulded and carved out of wax, each piece is adjusted painstakingly for the best comfort on the wearer. In particular, the Freedom ring being wide and curved, it is tailor made to fit comfortably and effortlessly gliding on and staying on the finger, the ring is design to match and flow with the full collection in pendant, earrings to match any outfit and personal style, making a strong statement in a bold yet quiet way.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Freedom ring comes in 2 widths and 3 materials (rose gold, titanium or silver). Width at top 14.5mm tapering to 10mm base. Depth changes with every curve and bend from 3mm to 1.4mm at different sections. Every client has the potential to customize his or her own fit, with with the choice of number and size of diamonds and their setting position to tell their own story. Pendant and Earrings also follow the curved wave design detail featuring the same trilogy of diamonds in rose gold.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The collection speaks of strength, courage and freedom. The collection launch was aimed to bring greater awareness to the community, with a percentage of profits going towards Safesteps, a charity organisation in Victoria, Australia, supporting and providing 24 hour emergency shelter homes from women and children experiencing domestic abuse. A charity otherwise unknown and less heard of. Giving back to the community is also sharing hope and building up women and ultimately sharing a message of self-love, inspired by a strong single mother who bravely spoke up about her experience.
CHALLENGE: Originally trained as an architect before becoming a bespoke fine jewellery designer, Faith created mostly intricate and detailed, art deco inspired designs. The creative process to further expand the Freedom concept, into a full collection by distilling core design basics down to clean, strong lines is a personal journey on its own. Compared to designing for a private clientele, creating for a cause is the most powerful emotion to share and the amazing ripple effect to see the collection so passionately embraced by women (and men) of all ages and stages of their lives is most heartening.
