DESIGN NAME: ROUNDED RULER
PRIMARY FUNCTION: A set of ruler designed for children
INSPIRATION: We found that the ruler has potential safety problems for children. For example:the straightedge can be broken easily and the break section is sharp and dangerous,which is likely to cause harm;the sharp corner of triangular rule is easy to poke kids;the corner of triangular rule is so easy to be affected by wear and tear that it will lose the original function of measuring the angle.Rounded ruler is aimed at removing the hidden danger of existing ruler.It is safer and more suitable for children
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Rounded ruler is a set of ruler designed for children.With specific design,it is aimed at removing the hidden danger of existing ruler.Wrap the sharp corners of the ruler, it seems that the ruler has been put on a protective casing .Therefore,It can help children draw a straight line and measure the length or angle.Meanwhile, it is safer and more suitable for children.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: It's the same way as a regular ruler, but it's safer.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: After discovering the safety hidden trouble of the existing ruler, we analyzed the children's stationery on the Internet and visited the children's parents on children' s safety stationery. The result is the market demand of children's safety rulers is large.The safety potential of the ruler has attracted the attention of parents. They want their children to have a safer ruler.
CHALLENGE: The hardest part of this design activity is determine the shape and the appropriate material.
