| DESIGN NAME: Divide PRIMARY FUNCTION: Light fixture INSPIRATION: The idea for the product came from an earlier lighting product I designed some years ago. I wanted to use a familiar shape in new and unexpected ways. I am inspired to create lighting that are functional while also paying close attention to the aesthetic side. It is fascinating how a classic product can be turned into a piece of art. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Divide is a convertible and multifunctional light fixture. It consists of two main parts that can be positioned in several different ways. The parts can be joined together or divided, for example, one part can be placed around a houseplant like a pot. The light illuminates the plant and casts beautiful shadows in the ceiling. As a highlight there is a colored fluorescent acrylic sheet that reflects the LED light inside. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Divide can be used in several ways by adjusting the two parts, creating different kinds of atmospheres. The operation of the parts is simple with a seamless height adjustment. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in December 2017 and the final product was finished in February 2018. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The two main parts are made of plastic. Between them is a fluorescent acrylic sheet that reflects the LED light inside. The materials are durable which makes the light suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. The color of the acrylic can be chosen to suit a specific environment. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 550 mm x 1500 mm TAGS: divide, lighting, convertible, multi-functional, light, lamp RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Research was done in form of testing different shapes and combinations for the structure of the product. The light source had to be selected carefully as brightness, color and temperature of the light naturally affect the whole design. CHALLENGE: The challenge was to make the operation of the structure as simple as possible. It was essential that the product is easily adjustable and requires little effort from the user. Adessin delivered to them chairs, armchairs and tables made of metal and plywood. Ari has designed to Adessin a hudge lighting products, which are suitable for domestic and public use. One of the latest products is an armchaird with a light. |
