DESIGN NAME:
Screwdriver Holder

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Easy to use

INSPIRATION:
It's hard to hold the nail and using the screwdriver at the same time and people's fingers are easily get hurt.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
This is a design which help hold screw and screwdriver and to make the screw process much more efficient and safer. The holder steadily hold screwdriver and nail together, and the wire-steel on both side are changeable and flexible according to the size of the screwdriver and nail. It's also replaceable once broken, it may seems like a tiny improvement but it helps saving money and also conserve resources.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
First inserts the screwdriver into the holder, then place the nail in the front then twist screwdriver with one hand and the nail will be drilled into the specified point. After fixing the nail and screwdriver, we start to twist, tough white steel on both sides will broaden or retract according to the condition of the nail to keep it steady. once finished, the white steel will automatically back to its original place.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The design had started in October 2017 in Shenyang, completed in February 2018 in Shenyang, and displayed in the same year in the museum of LuXun Academy of Fine Arts in Shenyang.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
The whole material of the Screwdriver Holder is recyclable green plastic, white steel and environmental protection rubber. The parts are interspersed and assembled by numerical control and manual machining.

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
The whole size is 60 mm x 11 mm x 15 mm, The size of ink sac is 18 mm x 11 mm x 15 mm, The screwdriver holder can easily and steadily hold nail, avoid swaying. The metal part is white steel, the yellow part is plastic. The white steel is replaceable and easy to install, just simply insert in. The black part is latex, increased the force of friction, so that the driver is not easy to fall off.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
We precisely designed the holder in order to suit for all kinds of nails and screwdriver. small and elegant, easy to store, handy and safe. It's very practical and stable, can even perform well on curved surface. Construction plant, studio, daily life. It is convenient to use and easy for life.

CHALLENGE:
First, How to achieve the fixed function through the succinct form is the biggest challenge of this design. Secondly, the sustainable use of the product and the portability of the installation is a challenge.

LuXun Academy of Fine Arts

PROFILE:
The predecessor of Luxun Academy of Fine Arts (LAFA) was the Yanan-based Luxun Arts College (LAC) founded, in 1938, by the pioneering generation of Chinese Revolutionaries including Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai. Mao personally handwrote the Motto of LAC: “Strenuousness, Seriousness, Diligence and Modesty”. The college was removed to Northeast China in 1945 and evolved to Luxun Academy of Fine Arts in 1958.
