| DESIGN NAME: FOSTEX KOTORI 501 PRIMARY FUNCTION: Bluetooth Speaker INSPIRATION: The project name was "Rolled cake". KOTORI is the Audi equipment brand and often their products are bought as gift. So, they want to make a speaker which would be a casual gift. Also, the client want to it would be fit with interior of room for 20~40 years old. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The first ever speaker produced by KOTORI. Its cloth cover is replaceable. You can choose combination of 10 colors fabric grille and 4 body colors. We wanted to it looks nothing more than a transparent acrylic cylinder wrapped in a fabric. We aimed the fabric body blending in with the surrounding interior. Plastic parts are set back as far as possible and a short foot is placed at each end to prevent it from rolling. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: KOTORI 501 don’t have any instruction letter on it ‘s body. The left acrylic disc is on/off switch, a right disc is volume. You can find it the left disc have click feel on two places and the right one turn forever. Also we put instruction letter on “scratch protect film” which is removed when star to use. Connection with smartphone is just select “KOTORI501” from Bluetooth section of your smartphone. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: It takes about 6 months for design, 4 month for engineering in Tokyo. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: In order to express high-quality rich bass, we have placed our own developed actuator (oscillator) on the inside bottom. The actuator vibrates the table and sideboard on which the speaker was placed, realizing the bass that satisfies the space with high quality, which was difficult to express in the small speaker system. In addition, adopting the reproduction technology "cear Field" of the acoustic technology "cear *", the sound stage full of spreading feeling exceeding the speaker size at the sweet spot and the high-quality sound without discomfort even when listening from 360 degrees any place Provide space for the place. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Transparent acrylic resin, four color ABS, 10 color fabric, W206 D75 H91mm/15,000jpy TAGS: interior, relax, color, gift, comfortable, transparent RESEARCH ABSTRACT: - CHALLENGE: To realize our design concept, we must use transparent solid acrylic discs on both side.
