PRIMARY FUNCTION:
vacuum-sealing ZERO refrigerator

INSPIRATION:
Basically, I'm aware of that the conventional structure of refrigerator system can't suggest solutions to solve a dead space problem. I found that most people don't know how to use unoccupied spaces between shelves and food containers. Stacking vacuum sealed foods on the slide rack inside the refrigerator can reduce unnecessary dead space. Today, many people use vacuum sealing machine for food storage and store such sealed foods in a refrigerator.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
It suggests a solution to a dead space problem which none of the existing refrigerators could solve. Thanks to the specially-designed space equipped with racks for efficient storage of vacuum-sealed foods, it is possible to see all foods clearly at a glance, which used to be in a mess. It is also helpful in keeping foods very fresh for a longer time, as vacuum-sealed pack protects food from air, microorganisms, and mold, and keeps it safe from oxidation, humidity, leakage, and even pests.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
The vacuum packaging machine is attached to the door of the zero heat refrigerator. So, after you vacuum wrap,As each shelf has the rack for vacuum sealed packs, users can easily make the best use of the unoccupied space, simply by hanging or taking out. ZERO's IoT smart home system when vacuum sealing food, it marks the best before date, and notifies an user of the expiration date in advance through an alert system by interoperating between smartphone and refrigerator.

This vacuum pack refrigerator project started in October, 2017. Spark Desing Away - Finalist, Pin up Concept Desing award - Finalist, Yanko Design 2017 top 10 appliance design has been selected as.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
ZERO refrigerator combines its existing vacuum packaging device with a refrigerator, making shelves capable of displaying vacuum-closed foods in a slide rack inside the refrigerator. so ZERO refrigerator solves the chronic problems in the existing refrigerators, such as dead space and hygiene matters, with an user-friendly and easily-accessible way of use.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
The design of vacuum-sealing ZERO refrigerator suggests an ideal solution to a dead space problem in the existing refrigerators. In a traditional design of refrigerators, it is impossible to make use of many spaces unoccupied, like between shelves and food containers, or between shelves and beverages or bottles of sauces. But in a design of ZERO refrigerator, it is possible to fix this problem, by making full use of these dead spaces with the rack designed to store vacuum-sealed foods.

CHALLENGE:
Taking both a dead space problem of refrigerator and better organization of foods for tidiness and efficient storage into account, the design of ZERO refrigerator enables an user to put vacuum-sealed food on the rack, just like the way of the existing clothes hangers.
