DESIGN NAME: USG Booth
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Exhibition Stand
INSPIRATION: The inspiration raises directly from the star product of the company: a Sheetrock ultra light panel. The booth is made of this which needs to be showcased as it pure qualities: extra Lightness vs its competitors.
On the other hand the enterprise logo was recently refreshed to a pair of triangular- trapezoidal- perspective manner shapes on gray and red that stands besides USG word, following this pattern the geometrics of the booth are encouraged to follow this line together with the lightness.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: After 8 consecutive years of designing for USG Mexico at Expo Cihac, we decided of continuing the line of innovation and avant-garde as in the pastyears. Inside an 7.47 m2 area it rises an smashing inverse pyramidal structure standing in only one vertex showing out the characteristics of the light weight systems represented.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: As the booth stands alone over one structural point, the whole area is free from any obstacle, so the space is accessible from any aisle of the expo providing clear views of the object itself.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project is part of an eight year commission started in 2010 to design and manufacture annually the booth for USG at Expo Cihac the leading event for the construction Industry in Latin-america. The booth now is permanently exhibited at the main gate of the manufactured Puebla factory in Mexico.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We took months developing the main structure. It is formed mainly with steel beams as a Vierendeel beam behavior, this structure rests on a single point unlike a common vierendeel. to counteract the lack of one of the natural supports the structure is more robust at its base and more slender while moving away from its gravitational center.
CHALLENGE: Getting in front of the same space 8 years at a row is a huge challenge in terms of visitor impact and marketing rates. That is why we take the risk to design a 10 tons and 150 sqm. stand that rests on a single structural point, which was the main challenge by far.
