DESIGN NAME: Above the Clouds
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Museum Exhibition
INSPIRATION: We always try to take a symbol to interpret the abstract meaning of cloud, even... we imagine there is a castle above the cloud. Once we look upon the sky with our abstract and concrete thoughts shuffling among those clouds, the various possibilities of future life start an amazing travel in our minds. Therefore, we try to expand the concept of cloud into a conceptual state of abstraction and concretization as the theme of this exhibition.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Cloud is the core idea of this exhibition, I want to illustrate how those designers transfer their abstract thoughts into concrete designs by trying to expand the clouds status between abstraction and concretization. Therefore, the design transfers cloud into geometric cloud gates, artificial clouds, cloud platform and cloud walls by using soft and transparent yarn cloths as the expression of general structure and function.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Cloud, both abstract and concrete, it is an individual existing separates from our daily life but also impacts us. Therefore, we find a way to describe the possibilities of future life among abstraction and concretization, transfer those possibilities into realities.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The design started in March 2017 and finished in May 2017 in Shanghai, and was exhibited in Zhejiang Art Museum, Hangzhou, China in June 2017.
