| DESIGN NAME: Nest PRIMARY FUNCTION: Chess Set INSPIRATION: Chess is a game of strategy development that has been playing for so many years. In this game, the sides are always separated from each other. But according to the some philosophy like yin and yang, it is said that there is an evil in every good and there is a good in every evil. Nest was designed with the concept of making peace at the end of the game and actually representing everything as a whole. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Nest is an easy carrying and small chess set. It takes up little space because the stones are nested and the chessboard keeps in chess pieces. The product is a preferable gift because of that products metaphorical meaning, small size and materials. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Nest is very easy to use. Once removed from the cardboard box, the chessboard in which the chess pieces are located is divided into two pieces and assembled. The magnets on the boards merge the product. The chess pieces are used by being removed from each other. And the game is ready to begin. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project is designed and prototyped in Konya/TURKEY in 2018. Registration of design in Turkey is a still ongoing process. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Nest chess pieces can be produced by metal wire erosion method. However, in the case of multiple productions, the chess pieces can be cut from the special design aluminum extrusion profile and formed by the part removal method. The chessboard is produced from of gulfac coated, self skinning, cold foamed polyurethane as two separate pieces. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The largest size of chess pieces is 60 mm high. When closed the box dimensions are 60 x 170 x 340 mm. The chessboard is 30 x 340 x 340 mm when in play. TAGS: Nest, Chess set, Game, Souvenir, Gift product RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Chess is a strategy game that has been played since the 6th century and is a strategy game that is said to be of long standing more ancient times. It is not intended that sides in chess, a strategy game, see each other as enemies. At the end of the game, the pieces are combined to form a whole, which emphasizes peace and coexistence. CHALLENGE: The aim of the project is to increase the metaphorical meaning in the chess game and make the game more fun. At the same time, chess pieces are simply expressed in abstract forms, and the fact that they are produced from aluminium materials also makes the product used as an exhibition object.
