DESIGN NAME: Kandinsky
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Sidetable
INSPIRATION: Inspired by the work of Wassily Kandinsky simple geometry shape the table tops. It combines four different marble tops with two different structures. A full thin metal structure with gold or nickel finish is available as well as an acrylic sheet combined with a thick metal foot in gold or nickel finish. In every option it looks like the table top is floating as the structure always give the feeling of lightness.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The marble tops of exoctic origins make the most of stones used in architecture projects and applied in this collection for maximum usage and less waste.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The table is higly addaptable to projects. The client can choose from diferent tops, shapes, finishes and different bases.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in the end of January of 2017 and was presented at Maison et Objet in September of 2017.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The tops come from left overs of architecture projects. The idea was to turn this material more democratic with the re-usability. All the metal components are made of inox and them finished with metal coating when needed. Laser cutting acrylic is also used in one of the versions. To make the tops a CNC was used so it would fit perfectly on the metal structures.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We knew from the beginning that we wanted the tables to look like they are floating or softly landing like a space ship. All the made research and models were made so the final product would look elegant, futuristic and still using stone give a sense of lightness.
CHALLENGE: The creative challenge was to take the most of this exquisite materials that were being thrown away and that could be given a new use without losing its emotional properties and qualities.
