PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Floor Cleaning Robot

INSPIRATION:
The height of mainstream cleaning robots in the market is about 8cm. In reality, however, space narrower than 8cm abounds in the home environment. Hence, similar products find it difficult to enter low and narrow environments such as those under the sofa or bed, rendering cleaning unthorough. We have also found that users have mopping requirements for low and narrow spaces. To meet the demand of users for comprehensive high quality integrated sweep-and-mop cleaning, we have designed Deebot K3.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The Deebot K3 is an ultra-slim floor cleaning robot with an OZMO water tank. At a height of 5.7cm, its body is slimmer than similar products, and can easily access low and narrow spaces to clean thoroughly. An OZMO water tank has been added to the Deebot K3, which giving users a high quality integrated sweep-and-mop cleaning experience. The Deebot K3 is squircle in shape so that its side brushes can be as outward as possible, allowing higher cleaning coverage of corners.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
The Deebot K3 cleans intelligently after being activated, and returns to its charging dock for charging after completing its task. Users may also tell the robot to finish its cleaning task by remote control either via the remote control device or App.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project commenced in Suzhou, China, in April 2017, and was completed in February 2018.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
The robot is equipped with Smart Move technology, as well as a gyroscope, mainstream path recognition and obstacle avoidance sensors. Optimized algorithms make the robot smarter, and path planning more reasonable. Cleaning in an S shaped path helps prevent cleaning omission and repetition. The electronically-controlled reservoir provides the machine with a strong mopping function. Non-spray paint is used to increase product texture, and is both environmental friendly and durable. Fiberglass has been used to bolster the strength of the robot is body, and reduce its weight.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
We began by calling customers who bought the previous generation product to accurately position our target consumer group. Our survey of the target group subsequently revealed that in fact, space narrower than 8cm abounds in the home environment, But the current height of mainstream cleaning robots in the market is about 8cm, and are unable to enter these narrow spaces. The Deebot K3 can fill this gap in the market, and meet user demand for cleaning low and narrow spaces.We have also gathered and analyzed user assessments of the product of the previous generation, and have come to understand the difference between the product is functions and user demand. We have thus added an electronically-controlled reservoir, which provides the machine with a strong mopping function, giving users a better operating experience. We have optimized the cleaning work path, raised the climbing performance, and strengthened its ability to extricate itself.

CHALLENGE:
While maintaining its ultra-slim body at a height of 5.7cm, we also had to add a new electronically-controlled reservoir system, as well as enhance the machine is climbing performance, and ability to extricate itself. Thus, we faced extremely big challenges in accomplishing an internal setup within a compact body. Miniaturized customization.
