DESIGN NAME: Guardian
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Monitor Animal
INSPIRATION: With the environmental changes, an increasing number of animals are endangered. Biologists and preservationists start taking actions, but how to measure length of animals, collection of animal vital signs and subsequent tracking become a necessary problem to be considered.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The traditional capture of data acquisition not only threatens personal safety, but also damages animals. The Guardian drone that we designed is a new-type drone that is used to supervise animals. It is replaced for searching, measurement and subsequent tracking. This not only guarantees safety of man and animals, but also saves manpower and material resources.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The bottom camera of drone is equipped with scanning and shooting functions. This records animals’ image data and also can scan healthy status and basic information of animals.
Both ends of the camera have the laser lamp. When the laser lamp launches the beam of light, the distance between two points of incidence is fixed. The camera scanning function can speculate the length of animals in line with proportion between the length of animals and distance of two points.
Four mechanical legs of drone is installed with an ejector for injecting GPS to track position of animals in real time.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in November 2017 in Zhengzhou and finished in February 2018 .

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The camera has the function of scanning and video.

The above is the basic technology requirement of drone,we believe that the unmanned aerial vehicles should be made to meet the conditions of the military drones so as to better cope with the complex and changeable environment in the outdoors.

Result:According to the results of the collection,the traditional capture of data acquisition not only threatens people’s safety, but also damages animals. Moreover, the measurement process is tedious and complicated. Due to the complicated topography of animals’ survival environment, this causes a great influence on searching and subsequent tracking.
Influence:We should consider the above four points to design drones
CHALLENGE: I think the difficulty in making this drone is how to make the camera have a scan and video function, because it sounds very science fiction.Second, how to make the GPS emitter smaller is also a challenge
