DESIGN DETAILS
DESIGN NAME:
Cutting Up

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Ikea style Gym

INSPIRATION:
A lot of fitness clubs, we hope to design a different fitness club. Because the project is located at the Livat mall in Wuhan, Livat is a lifestyle art mall built by ikea. So we have an idea "designing an Ikea style gym." A gymnasium with a playground-like bright color that differentiates from a traditional fitness club.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The mall is located in the city center, the surrounding residents population of 8.6 million. Every weekend, the mall will gather a large number of family customers to arrive at the mall to purchase furniture and spend family day. We hope that the design of the fitness club is not a single person to exercise, but the whole family go to the fitness club to spend a good time together. We study the ikea customer base, style, color, product design as a basis for our project.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
As this fitness center is located in the ikea shopping center, we are positioning this program as an ikea-style fitness center. Relaxed, comfortable, young, energetic as its soul.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project started in September 2016 in Wuhan and finished in April 2017 in China.

FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY:
Interior Space and Exhibition Design

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
Discussing ikea, the first and most direct impression is the classic yellow with blue.Livat Wuhan center is built by ikea, but it is different from the traditional ikea furniture store. In the shopping mall which, placed in every corner of the art of sculpture , fitness clubs should also continue the artistic atmosphere of shopping malls. We use a lot of cube piled up three-dimensional space sculpture. Rewan glass, wood, colored lights, acoustic panels, marble are also applied to the project.

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
The total area of the project is 2,600 square meters. The entrance to the project is relatively narrow, the interior is relatively open, and there is no natural light in the room. Customers do not want people to be able to see the interior of the clubhouse in the door. We design the route into the interior as an arc to reduce the dull feeling. The arc is designed to hide the internal scene.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
People usually participate in fitness alone, and there are few fitness centers that provide fitness facilities to the whole family. ikea concept is to provide an interesting shopping environment, family members can go to buy furniture, dining together. Technology is progressing, and family members' communication is decreasing. We want to enhance the emotion between loved ones by setting up a home-based fitness center to work out together.

CHALLENGE:
The hardest part of the project is that the doorway is narrower, wider and without any natural light. Therefore, we must break the dull lines and make the plane lines arc-shaped. This also avoids being able to see inside. Secondly, we can not use any ikea furniture, but make ikea feeling.
