| DESIGN NAME: Ordinary PRIMARY FUNCTION: Fashion design INSPIRATION: Mimi Jeong was inspired by nature which we live with every day. She wanted to show how well ordinary concept could be integrated with creative looks and modern style. When Mimi Jeong is struggling to come up with new ideas, she goes outside and feels nature such as flowers, and trees because nature always provides me with abundant creative inspiration. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Every day, there are no ordinary moments. The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that a little detail. In this project, Mimi Jeong reinterpreted ‘Ordinary’, the 2 looks of three garments, from modern viewpoint incorporating creative textile art expressions and innovative design. She was inspired by nature which we live with every day. She wanted to show how well ordinary concept could be integrated with modern style, techniques, and creative looks. This design is not only an art-wear that radiates external beauty with durable clothes but also a messenger that consists of thought and signification. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Mimi Jeong researched and studied the fundamentals of ordinary garments. Then, she designed the garments by applying art knowledge and fashion/ textile techniques on well-structured 3D dimensional garments and creative textile. She used sustainable fashion techniques in this project such as recycled cotton or denim to create the unexpected and innovative design. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: After Mimi Jeong got the ideas of design details, she studied references such as ordinary trench-coat and minidresses. Mimi Jeong used sustainable fashion techniques in her projects such as recycled cotton or denim to create the unexpected and innovative design. Sewing, Draft, Pattern making, textile(Bun out, stitching together, printing) SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 2 looks/ US size 6 TAGS: Trench coat, Dress, Coat, Nature, Textile, Surface RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Mimi Jeong has always looked for creative inspiration from nature. When she is struggling to come up with new ideas, she goes out and feel the nature such as flowers, and trees or goes to a museum to get ideas from that moment and combines them with creative designs and innovative textiles. She tried to achieve the creative design and textiles she wanted. CHALLENGE: Integrating her knowledge and experience from other disciplines of art with the fundamentals of fashion textiles. NAME: Mimi Jeong PROFILE: She has natured her aspiration to become a fashion designer with her innate artistic talent, unceasing endeavor to master expression techniques in different disciplines of art and sincerely fascinated by fashion. She learned the fundamental of art and developed her qualifications and perspectives as an artist and studied fundamental features and characteristics of different fabrics and apply them in artistic expression. Her fascination with fashion made her continue further education in Academy of Art University. she wants to be a fashion textile designer whose work is not only a well-structured cloth with basic form and fundamental of fashion but also a well-designed fabric with creative textiles of fashion. Integrating her knowledge and experience from other disciplines of art to the fundamentals of textiles and fashion that she will become an influential fashion textile designer who is thoughtful and expressive works lead the flow of a new culture when revealed at the world-renowned fashion weeks. |
