DESIGN NAME: Secluded Home
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential House
INSPIRATION: What I hope most for this building is that my dad is willing to stay here, and everyone is welcomed to drop by as well.
To this end, I prepared a bedroom for my father on the first floor for lunch break and placement of his own belongings, such as ink stone, tea table, brush and ink. I would like him to have a wooden table to write or make tea while making dumplings and pasties at the kitchen. On the weekend, friends may come over to cook or bake cake, so I set an oven and cooking area. The upstairs is actually the major part of our design project.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This is a composite office space renovated from a 30-year old house, hidden in the exciting city like a paradise in the madding crowd, mixed with the old and new power.
The main building features a white base while the interior design omits the excessively complex and decoration but restores to the concept of space practicability.
White is a color resembling a calming power that can dismantle the urban suspension fully and calm down an unsettled mind, thereby soothes the anxious emotion of people.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: When the glass door in front of the first floor is open, the house is close to the small courtyard in front, where one can perceive the cold breeze in the summer when the trees swing with the wind while in the winter the sun spreads into the room.
After all, what we really need is a simple and light lifestyle, a pursuit for quality design.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in December 2016 in Taiwan, and finished in May
2017.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Many of the materials reflect characteristics of the region and the times.
We reserve most objects from the old house, including granolithic flooring, stained glass, sliding door, window barrier, and square white porcelain. We intend to keep the charm of old objects in this generation. Materials from the land such as log, minerals, landscape, and sky are injected for embellishment.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Hidden in the city, hidden in the heart and deep in the residence, white takes in all colors and is attributed to home.
We attach importance to reflect the homeowner's personality in the design, and different ways will be used depending on the case itself to exhibit varied taste of space.
CHALLENGE: In the past, Taiwanese people often used sheet metal as roof panels. We have slightly rearranged the rooftop structure, preserving the skeleton and form of the space.
When design no longer pursues complexity, less means more and the power hidden in things will then completely be released.
