DESIGN NAME: Sisley Phyto-Touche
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Online commercial
INSPIRATION: I was mainly inspired by still-life photographers, for their rigorous and colorful compositions. I wanted to build a set with the same attention to details of framing, composition, colors and lights, as if it were a photo shoot. Of course the budget was not the same and we only had one day to built the set and to shoot the film.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This commercial was created for the release of the new sun glow powder range Phyto-Touche by the cosmetics company Sisley Paris. The goal was to reveal the product and the sensory sun-kissed look it offers. For this, the product was staged in a real environment and on a set using exclusively real light effects and colourful elements.
The video was released on the brand’s website and across social media, as well as through in-store displays.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The film was released in february 2017 and is still broadcasted on Sisley Paris website: http://www.sisley-paris.com/fr-FR/phyto-touche-pou

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: This is a very low budget project, so we could not afford a big production. We had to find clever ways to achieve all the effects. The water reflections for example were made by lighting a bowl filled with water and held at arm's length just above the set.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The film was made to be released on social medias and through in-store displays. The original film was 00:41 seconds long, it also came with a shorter version (both in french and english versions) and with several gif loops, based on some of the film highlights.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: -
CHALLENGE: I wanted the film to be 100% real, with no after effetcs or 3D environment. It was not a big commercial, but just an online film made to accompany the product launch. These films are usually made in 3D, beacause it is easier to show the pack details, for instance. But I wanted to show the sensation and feelings around the product, which can't be shown in 3D. So the main challenge was to find the good view to capture that feeling and to show the product before shooting, beacause we had only one day to create the scenery and shoot all the scenes of the film.
