DESIGN NAME: Pianeti NODO
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Necklace
INSPIRATION: The inspiration for this necklace , according to the artist, was the simple action "of knotting a foulard", avoiding it from falling down the shoulders. In the same way the designer wanted to create a necklace that could be blocked on the front but with no closure . A necklace that any woman could possibly close by herself .
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The way this necklace has been thought, designed and created makes it different from the ones we are used to see. In fact it closes on the front without the need of a classic closure thanks to the way it has been built. This is as a matter of fact its particularity. The design is functional, ergonomic and quite original at the same time.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Wear it and feel dressed
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The necklace was created on January 2015 and showed at Fuori Salone DIN DesignIn Milano on April 2015

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: It is 100% handmade in Italy by Maria Laura herself in her Creative Lab. The components are all Italian and come from five different suppliers researched all over Italy. The necklace can be closed by turning the pvc and fixing together the two ends closed by a cap. Technically this is possible thanks to a specific steel core with the right thickness that is the result of several tests before approving the right one that works properly. The necklace has a larger pearl of Murano blown glass and two smaller ones of silver-leaf colored glass .
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: necklace is width 150 mm x height 220 mm . weight : 45 gr

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: As any other of Lalla's creations the process starts with the idea of something that is clear in the mind of the artist but needs the right materials to come to life. In this case she needed the right core steel wire to slip by hand into the pvc wire and at the same time be workable and unbreakable with the use. Therefore it took her about a couple of months, and several wires until she could approve the one that's now in the necklace.
CHALLENGE: The challenge was to create a necklace that did not exist, the obstacle was finding the right materials in order to turn the design into a real necklace, easily wearable and light at the same time.
