| DESIGN NAME: SAMU PRIMARY FUNCTION: Training Chair INSPIRATION: Whale as a rare species at present is protected by personnel from all over the world.Whales have elegant postures and big smiles once they open their mouths.They are warm and adorable. We want to keep them along with us all the time.So we invite the whale from the cartoon world into our office and our lives. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: SAMU, only hearing this name, you think something as fun.It has triple functions!Armchair ,training chair with table and storage ! It has been a beautiful and smart whale called SAMU! The smooth and sinuous shape, of the whale makes it a really nice and intriking product with the strong personality. It is ideal for the co-working space, open space, training room, and informal waiting area.The studio started to think the body and the tail of whale as a very original and ergonomic sitting. When you sit with the tail behind you, you can use it as a backrest of the seat. With the tail in front, you become a cowboy on the saddle of your horse(whale) .The interior structure is composed of steel rod tubes covered by polyurethane injection foam in various density.The whale is mounted on wheels for easier movement... OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The peculiarity of SAMU is that it is possible to use in a casual way, in a funny way, or in a formal way as training chair. There are two ways of sitting. The first one is as a racehorse and you use the tail as a table. In fact the tail, support job items as laptops or tablets for this reason. SAMU is a concrete training chair as a meeting chair. The second way is using the tail as the back. The ergonomics of tail perfectly imitates the ergonomics of the human back so SAMU become a real armchair. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in May 2017 in Italy and finished in January 2018 in China, and was exhibited in CIFF in March 2018. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Furniture Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The inserted steel frame of the sofa is of high quality made by baosteel.The foam is high density,high flexibilities,fire-p SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 490*865*765 TAGS: creative,functional, RESEARCH ABSTRACT: When we hear about the training word, we might come up with words like bored, old school, long sitting.Thus in the perspective of furniture designers, we expect something interesting,adorable to foil the atmosphere, at least for the first glimpse.Whale is a warm and cute figure. They swim elegantly and freely in the sea.We hope our trainees' inspirations can be as free as SAMU. CHALLENGE: It is challenging that we imitate the whale postures into the chair with good functions and shapes.Plus neck-spinning techonolgy and no wrinkles on the shape is hard to realize.
