DESIGN NAME: Throne Room
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Business environment
INSPIRATION: Situated on the 30th floor of metropolitan Hong Kong, the Throne
Room encapsulates the quintessential elements of a
contemporary aura blended together with a vibe of boudoir. The
plethora of marbles displays an endeavor exceeding a traditional
English style, where often a unification is found towards the
patterned application of the stones, accentuated by the tinged of
brass. For a business environment lined with a curvature of
window panes, the clever application of arches has greatly
facilitated the space presentation, complimented by the Victorian
inspired, Orac-molded ceiling throughout the space; fluidity and
spaciousness are leveraged immensely for the ergonomics.
Being a piece that is conceptualized to juxtapose against a city
backdrop; the Throne Room aims to hammer home a note of a
nostalgic, pre-industrialization era, where the extravagant
materials would be it utilized with humility and adaptability — the
full spectrum support of an in-built lighting cum sound system
coerces as a solid proof of the Throne Roomʼs ambitious attempt
infusing the old and new.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Throne Room aims to achieve a bonafide mishmash of a modern Victorian style. A design has greatly served the functions of modelling an office environment to fit into this intent without sacrificing the functionality. The different areas are designed in different ways in accord to the proper function to be performed in the designated areas. The concept is therefore unified at different levels through the
application of brass as a material of motif, setting off the notes for multi-purpose area.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The throne room is a complete module of interior work that aims to achieve a bonafide mishmash of a modern Victorian style. The design has greatly served the functions of modeling an office environment to fit into this intent without sacrificing the functionality of work space, which is greatly facilitated by the application of lighting and proper floor linings. On the other hand, the different areas have been designed in different ways in accord to the proper function to be performed in the designated areas. The concept is therefore unified at different levels through the application of brass as a material of motif, setting off the notes for a multi- purpose area that come together for the reception of guest, workspace, and entertainment space.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in August 2016 in Hong Kong and finished in June 2017.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Orac-molded ceilings were used throughout the Throne Room. To ensure the curved Orac-molded ceilings was installed and applied properly we and craftsman tested on site for many times. Pleasantly surprised and satisfied with the craftsmanship and installation works.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: At the directorʼs room the grandiose of design is reflected through the intricate details of careful materials application: UMU glass lining the sides of the wall, reflecting the metropolitan skyline; a fireplace cum TV unit meshed up with brass net, punctuating the continuous lines of the wooden floor. An overall unity of an English setting is undeniably achieved via the multitude of connoisseur visual selections, inclusive of the Poltrona Frau sofa.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: -
CHALLENGE: With the state-of-the-art computer systems installed for the manipulation of the essentials; the Throne Room is inevitably a representation of an old/new infusion for the convenience of end users. The intricate details of applying molded Orac ceiling has greatly alleviated the general problem of commercial structures of metropolitan Hong Kong where the floor height is limited. The ceiling has visually opened a vast spacial expanse which allows the sight to breathe through the Victorian patterns.
