DESIGN NAME: DayPark Sales and Culture Center
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Property Office
INSPIRATION: Jade is the heart of unpolished jadeite, while jadeite is the surface of well carved jade. In this specific case, the team attempted to redeconstruct SUPERIOR in a metaphorical way. An eyecatching installment at the bottom of the pool composed of a chunky piece of old green granite symbolizes the addition in its past time; the giant glass in U shape on the architectural facade compared as a clean white jade floating on the water represents a newly born strength otherwise.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The DayPark project, developed by Vanke in the heart of Shenzhen Bay, is a debut of residential development by Vanke Super Headquarter Base in Shenzhen. Officially it works as a comprehensive gamer: sales office and government programmed exhibition center featuring the local culture with arts. It is also the homage to craftsmanship and art of life while Vanke chose ZHEN as the deliberate definition to its high end residential product.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The most exciting part of the design is the installation of library and floral work in the central display hall. The big bookcase was made of overlying paper sheets framed by steel strips, and visitors are free to enter the film section through the opening of the volume. The 9 meter high screen next to the big bookcase becomes a consistent wall of metaphor, blocking a massive part of natural light into the room and generating a medium between void and solidity ideally to let the floral installation on the top run through it. A harmonious picture is presented then.
