PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Electric bicycle
INSPIRATION:
We are inspired by the VW beetle. A nice looking little vehicle that everybody can afford. It is easy to maintain and drive. It looks stunning and different from everything else in the market. Everybody little darling. Perfect for the little family who needs a smart transportation method.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The carQon 3 wheeler is our new holistic design approach to a high-end cargo bike. The new carQon cargo bike is extremely easy to handle when driving around corners. There is a patented carving mechanism underneath the frame. It is like riding a normal bicycle where you use your body to control the steering rather than actually turning the handlebar. The carQon bike is equipped with a high torque motor for maximum performance. We call it intuitive driving. Perfect for 1 adult and 2 children.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
The electric bike is extremely easy to operate compared to other electric cargo bikes. There is a full suspension tilting steering device incorporated in the design in order to make the driving feeling intuitive. Same way as a normal 2 wheel bike is operated.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
18 Month. Croatia. It was started in Croatia and finalised in Croatia. The final assembly of the bike take place in Heerenveen in Holland.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
The frame is produced in high end aluminium in order to make it light and strong. The box is made in composite materials to give the box a high end look and feel. Lights is integrated in the box.

30 Kilo. Width 60 cm. Length 250 cm. Hight 90 cm. Aluminium frame. Front box in composition carbon.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
We studied driving behaviour on electric cargo bikes and found that all of them them where difficult to drive. This we wanted to change by inventing the best intuitive steering and handling device for cargo bikes.
CHALLENGE:
The challenge was to get the steering device right. The result is now perfect. The cargo bike is extremely easy to drive.

Diavelo is a Danish design studio. The Creative Director Mr. Brian Hoehl is one of the most wellknow designers in the world for electric bicycles. We work for many automotive companies all over the world. Our design philosophy is to integrate parts in our design as much as possible in order to create a holistic design. Another discipline that we master is to ingrate design DNA from existing brands into new developments and concepts. Diavelo is one of the most or probably the most award winning studio in the world designing electric bicycles.
