DESIGN NAME: Times Paradise
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Presentation and Sales
INSPIRATION: The location of this project, Suzhou, is a flourishing southern city with beautiful sceneries of mountains, rivers, fertile fields, and with the delicacy and fascination of clothes and cultural relics. Streets in the city go along rivers, which has won it the fame as the water nourished place. The two rivers, the Pingjiang River and the Shantang River, have been nurturing the long history and culture of China, and incubating the cultivation of rice and the production of silk. The design was inspired by the city and its culture and intended to represent the harmony in the local environment.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This project was developed by one of the top ten Chinese real estate developers, Longfor. Occupying about 750,000 square meters in the CBD area on Shishan Road, a high-tech district of Suzhou, it is a upscale real estate project attracting public attention and of high market value.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The layout was exquisitely and cautiously worked out to embody the essence of Chinese garden. Lines, straight and curved, give conciseness to the structure. The plum blossom shape from Hui style architecture is extracted and rendered into the design for the whole space to emphasize the theme: the reception area of the hallway is decorated with grilles carved with petal shaped patterns, backed by grey mirror behind to restructure the reflection of light in a subtle way, making the space more exquisite.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: In terms of material, grey wood grain marble is extensively applied as the background as its texture is elegant and modern, and can resonate with the traditional building's white wall and black tiles in a unique and subtle manner. The glass with water wave pattern carries the concept of the water culture of Suzhou. The faux silk wall covering and fabric brings glossy delicacy to the space with a gentle touch of richness.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: As the project is deeply influenced by the culture of nearby metropolitan Shanghai, the developer required the design to reflect strong sense of metropolitan fashion. After receiving this project, we collected enormous books and materials related to the local culture, and extensively studied the local architecture, gardens, natural environment and culture by which we extracted the elements to be modified innovatively and applied in design. They were integrated into the space to form the domestic decoration resonating with the local natural and cultural environment in a new form.
CHALLENGE: One of the highlights of the original building is the large window which was requested to be emphasized in the design to demonstrate the beautiful exterior sceneries. We adopted modern approach to transform the space with the window into a bar lounge area with the most beautiful view of the whole building as the background for communication, creating a casual and comfortable service experience.
