| DESIGN NAME: Tangram PRIMARY FUNCTION: Stool INSPIRATION: Yan Cheng in the Ming Dynasty designed Butterfly Wing Table according to the principle of YAN JI drawing. A total of 13 pieces of different triangle AN JI s could be put together to form the shape of butterfly wings, and they can form over one hundred kinds of shapes when separated from the wings. Tangeam is thereby developed on the basis of ,YAN JI drawing and Butterfly Wing Table. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Tangeam is originated from the YAN JI drawing in the Song Dynasty. And the drawing is for modular furniture called AN (table for dining or desk for reading and writing) and JI (furniture for sitting). Tangeam consists of 5 different shapes (a total of 7 thin pieces). These pieces can be put together to form triangle, square, rectangle, parallelogram, and irregular polygon. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The whole design is done using simple and traditional techniques, and the designer hopes that the whole furniture can be assembled in different forms and appearance. Different Numbers of monomers can form different forms and can be used in homes, public places, and even airport lobbies. Different dimensions are obtained through different combinations to be used for different Spaces. Each hypotenuse is a fitting point of assembly. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The design uses traditional wood to combine with the sponge cloth art sofa, hoping to use the traditional technology to make innovative works. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Width1516*Depth681*H TAGS: tangram, shapes, drawing, wings, together RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The designer hopes to make a bench, which can form different specifications by different forms, which can be applied to different places. It increases the practicality and variability of the works. As a traditional Chinese puzzle game, the jigsaw puzzle can be extended with infinite extension and can be deformed in future. Mobile phone headphones are expected to show the variability of the jigsaw puzzle in the product. CHALLENGE: Construction is very difficult as it requires lots of delicate carpentry works. The pieces are made of geometrical lines. Through an irregular way, users can put two or more pieces together to form different shapes.
