| DESIGN NAME: Edge Area Rug PRIMARY FUNCTION: Area Rug INSPIRATION: Playing with geometry discovering the possibilities of the square. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The rugs are hand tufted, using only natural materials like wool and bamboo fibers. Lines are stitched with a tread made of banana fiber. The bamboo fiber adds shine and soft feel to the rug. The aim to be more than just a rug while the geometric pattern is meant to contribute to visual contrast and balance which ever space it will be placed in. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The geometry combination of the square and the triangel represents union of body and soul.The square represents the body and physicality, the triangel soul and inner life. The rug can in a glance define the personality of a room , depending if the preference is a feeling of lightness or a more grounded feeling. The difference within the same design is the choice of the color and different choice of material. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Starting late 2016 with this design and finished 2017, has not yet been exhibited. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Furniture Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The focus and intention of this product came to life while contemplating on different formations and how we are influenced by them consciously or unconsciously.Using the square in a more interesting way than used before in previous designs by me. Playing with a different form , without using the circle, rhomb and hexagon. The square redefined ! As before I had a somewhat a preconceived idea that the square was somehow less and not worth as much as it was perceived as more closed form in my view. Therefor it was a journey of discovery on a personal plane. Also to use different material in the 2 rugs one spherical,soft and light, the other more grounded and earthbound depending of the choice of color, bambufiber or Wool. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Product dimensions are 2000mm x 2000mm x 10mm TAGS: Geometric area rug, Tufted rug, Square rug with inserted triangels, Area rug, RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Playing with squares, in the search for an somewhat more interesting form, not just a simple square. CHALLENGE: An area rug which is square but more than that and still not being to dominant in the room, with the intention to add another subtle dimension to the square. NAME: Ingrid Kulper Design AB/ Mattahari PROFILE: Mattahari started as a brand and is now part of Ingrid Kulper Design since a few years. Matahari with one t here originates from Indonesia and means center of the sun. Matta in Swedish means rug so adding one t gives the word a new meaning. The main focus ot this company is designing rugs suitable for both the contract market and for private customers. |
