DESIGN NAME: Une
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Lobby
INSPIRATION: To meet the client’s favorite classical style and to present the harmony between life and nature, I created a unique rhythm of flow in the work. In French, Une is used for feminine nouns, which indicates the charm of the space. In Chinese; Une presents the balance of dynamic and static, as Yin and Yang. The space is still, yet light and wind is dynamic. People may stand or sit still, yet the view is dynamic. The rhythm, or Une , served as the spirit of transition in the work.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The glitter abstract trees leaped out when entering the foyer. Many giant doors and geometric lines are set to extend the visitor’s line of sight. The golden lines, like branches, flourish on the ceiling. The ceiling over the sofa in rest area presents images of flying butterflies, which bring the dynamic image from the outside garden indoor. Yet the line of eyesight followed by the arc shaped wall and set on the sofa area presents the balance between dynamic and static.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Apart from machine-made material which widely used, the work applied lots of hand-made materials, such as the golden tree seas in the foyer which every branch takes countless time and effort to find the perfect angle. The curvy ceiling with flying butterflies is also hand-made; the crystal light on the hall is purely knitted by hand. By these details, I hope to enrich the space with warmth and sense of home.
