| DESIGN NAME: So What PRIMARY FUNCTION: Boutique Interior Design INSPIRATION: “Upside Down” is a film about the two worlds that are mutually reversed.It was inspired by the two storefronts of the SOWHAT shop, we immediately associated this fascinating subject. The concept of "Upside Down" can perfectly solve the physical state of respective separation of the two floors, which forms a tightly bonded space, and achieves a kind of space tension that can not be achieved by the simple repeated design. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This is a interior design of two floors boutique in chengdu. It is designed using a minimalist approach, with no extra decoration and excessive color, the unified display elements will highlight the products and make them protagonists in the whole space. The feeling we want to bring in is a kind of gallery experience rather than the conventional clothing store, especially when people walk around the stair. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Through the two-floor high glass facade from outside, people can see the most important installation of the store- the stair. It's a key point to the concept of "Upside Down".Walking on the stair the consumer can see the two floor high wall paint on one side and can also blink the outside street view through the glass facade on the other side.With or without the fashion display on the stair they can always feel the special artistic atmosphere in this small collection store. Thanks to this stair the two separated floors are now easily merged together. The installations hanging on the 2nd. floor's ceiling and coming out from 1st.floor's ground emphasize this feeling of a whole space even strongly. Walking freely on each floor people see clothes hanging on the installation. But the different way of placing installations on each floor reminds people the wholeness of the space. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Textural Art Paint, Installation manufactured by local factory SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: All the installation of the store are composed under one principle: to be built in a simple way but to be a piece of exhibit itself and to be used flexibly.We use a 36*36*36 CM steel element as a module. As a basic it develops itself into the commodity shelf or a try-out cabinet. Further more it varies into a 18*36*36 CM stair step to build the most important scene in the store. TAGS: Collection Store, Upside down, fashion RESEARCH ABSTRACT: To understand the client's brand spirit, to create a possible solution in the limited situation, to design a collection store, all these are included in the process. But at the beginning you need a right way to think about these questions. For me sometimes the way lies in Movies. They give you a imaginative world and inspire you out from the real life to see the place where you are . That's how I get the inspiration and find my way to face my challenge. And after that I need to realize it and present it. CHALLENGE: Limited fee and time for the construction is the main challenge for the Designer.
