| DESIGN NAME: Lines Shaped Surface PRIMARY FUNCTION: Home Sales Center INSPIRATION: We want to see another possibility other than adopt the vertical and horizontal walls to create basement rooms. Using fold lines to make a three dimensional elevation to create special quality surfaces running from walls until the ceiling. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This is a housing sales center. After all housing units are sold, it will be used as a supporting facility of the community. We want to change the old way of using horizontal, flat, vertical and straight walls to make the interior space. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Using fold lines to make a three dimensional elevation to create special quality surfaces running from walls until the ceiling.The geometric shape inside the building impressed the customers and promoted the sales of the project. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Nantong, Jiangsu Provence, China |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The designer used simple wood as the base material, but wants to make a variety of space through the change of line. Using the relationship of point line, the irregular surface and space can be formed through different interlaced lines. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The project has 1800 square meters. TAGS: lines , shaped , surfaces ,create , 3-D space RESEARCH ABSTRACT: This project is a home sales center. For this project, we want to see another possibility other than adopt the vertical and horizontal walls to create basement rooms. Typically, the design of such space, no matter it’s architectural or interior design, is always dots constituting line, and lines constituting surface, and surfaces constituting 3-D space. Yet this time, we want to change to use broken lines to create a 3-D elevation and form a special surface texture. The elevation lines extend from walls up to ceilings and fully interpret our major concept lines shaped surfaces. CHALLENGE: How do we make geometry with lines? Construction is very difficult as it requires lots of delicate carpentry works using wood lines to make up a three dimensionalgeometry.
