| DESIGN NAME: Pu Zao Restaurant PRIMARY FUNCTION: Restaurant INSPIRATION: The design is inspired by the concept of water, the main line of this project which is found by chance. Diet is the source of life, and diet could not exist without water. Water makes people associate with boat, and eating on boat is a lovely thing. This is how the story born from the concept of water begins. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The dining environment is creatively built as boat. This idea is quite unique. It changes the traditional mode of restaurant, and has its meaning in design fields. The whole restaurant combines with landscape of local terrace cropping to create a primitive and plain feeling. Entering the door a huge pot and stove is unfolded in front of visitors; it highlights the theme while giving people an entertaining feeling. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: In the earlier stage of construction, the designer came to conduct on site everyday to ensure the integration and creativity of design be carried out well. In the medium stage, the designer checked on the materials and the accurate color, as well as decoration items as lightings and furniture, till the perfect completion of the project. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in July, 2016 and it is completed in October 2016, in Kunming, Yunnan, China. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Interior Space and Exhibition Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The huge boat on the top and mud wall terraced fields on both shores, together with natural scenes such as the elevated dining area on mountain cableways, rough granite handrail and etc., all reflects and fits the theme perfectly cook delicious food with a simple and sincere heart. A few boats look like drifting leisurely on the waterway of Jiangnan, and staggered-floor is added to both shores, these makes the waterway looks like natural water surface. The space planning is interesting, full of changes and well-arranged. A space with great contrast of romantic feeling and primitive simplicity is created. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Project Area: 550 sqm TAGS: Restaurant, Water, Interior Design, Dining Area RESEARCH ABSTRACT: In this project the designer looks at how to break through stereotypes of design under background of secular fashion deluge. CHALLENGE: One of the challenges in the project is the defective furred ceiling. The ceiling part lacks integration because of the bulky air conditioner pipe and the complex pipelines. The boat in the air is boldly adopted to wrap the pipes, so as to become a beautiful scenery in the air, echoing to the boat on the ground. The most difficult part in the construction process is to solve the privacy problem when dining on the boat. Flexible ropes are used as partition. When there are many diners, the whole boat is open to all; and when there are fewer diners, the boat can be divided into three separate tables by the ropes.
