| DESIGN NAME: The Box PRIMARY FUNCTION: Office INSPIRATION: This is a workplace where design idea is collected, the primary intention of the design has been kept where the freedom of usage is maximised, respecting the originality of materials in its ease in integration with the environment. It allows every creator in the space to speak and work for their truest mind. During the day, this is a box that collects light and idea. At night, the glow of idea sparks. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Located in an old apartment beside the park, the retracted front yard is left blank for a broader entrance and brings in a hint of lush green and verdure from the park. The warm day light stretches into the room through the window lattice; the shade of shadow changes over time; the hidden brightness and darkness gradually aroused in the space. Now it seems to be clear: the design is based on the trace of lighting. The adjacent cement wall at the side corridor is kept despite its marks of ageing, representing its respect for the design in its ease in integration with the environment. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The materials present themselves in their most primitive selves under the lighting, the iron accessories still keep their warmth as handicrafts while sparkling in the cool color-tone, the elegant wood texture embellished the space with fineness. The sunlight and clear shadows of tree reflected on the glass, the books are displayed properly in the space, expressing each of their own depth and knowledge PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project finished in Taipei City, Taiwan. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: light walnut wood,Veneer, steel,glass SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 110 sq. meter. TAGS: Humanization, Office, Studio.Ho, Simplest, light ,Idea RESEARCH ABSTRACT: This is a space design studio which collecting ideas. The freedom of the space, the respect to materials and coexisting with the environment are the main ideas we hold. We hope that every participant in this space will tell their thought, and honest to each other. CHALLENGE: The structure of the beam-column is generously presented instead of being hidden, the book wall and spiral staircase extend all the way from the hall and set to a distance, propping up the broadness of the space; the turnable bookcase towered in the middle of the space like a spine, being a partition and opening at the same time, interlinking the circulation and engaging each space to break the existed barrier and to show varied layers and freedom of the space as well as in visual experience.
