DESIGN NAME: Wanglaoji Recipe 1828
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Beverage
INSPIRATION: The brand story of wanglaoji is priceless asset to the client, where we can tell how pure is the original will of the medical practitioner throughout those hard times. Hence, we decide to record the historical inheritance and development of wanglaoji by laying out the illustration on the package as a scroll. The red cap of tinfoil paper is adorned with the herbal recipe of wanglaoji, which strengthens the ritual sense when open it.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Decoding the 189-year history of the secret recipe of WANGLAOJI, we are exposed to many precious and memorable moments of it, which were the times of practicing medicine and curing the sick. We employ the traditional artistry of Chinese serial pictures to reveal the ancient and mysterious world of Chinese medicine. The red paper of tinfoil covered on the top of the bottle helps to maintain the sanitation when tasting the tea, which is succeeded from the old time.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: There is a red paper cap covered on the top of the can, which is good for hygiene and more convenient to drink. When users open the can, they don't have to use a straw, which is a small gesture to be friendly environmentally.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started from June 2017 and finished in September 2017.
The design is done in Shenzhen, proofing in Shanghai, production in Guangzhou.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The main technique about this case is spot-color printing on aluminum can. The red paper cap is made of aluminum-paper.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: This product is set to be a bit pricey compared to other products from the client. But it is not difficult for us to find out that most of the packages of herbal tea looks traditional and a bit dull. So we decide to take use of the higher price and turn the old look into an elegant but high-end, through which the product can be differentiated from the rest.
CHALLENGE: There are too many lines to print so it is truly difficult to control the width of every single line in printing. But fortunately, it won't influence the overall feeling.
