DESIGN NAME:
Karoba
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Restaurant
INSPIRATION:
In Karoba Restaurant, located in north Tehran featuring exquisite oriental and Mediterranean cuisine, certain design elements and forms were needed to integrated with Persian aesthetics to meet with the menu, thus mirror-work and certain colors were introduced to manifest ancient Persian culture; yellow which represents the sun and persian blue.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Handcrafted copper countertops and mirror work makes this restaurant unlike anything designed in Tehran.
The building plan made it quiet challenging to come up with a versatile commercial space design such as restaurant. Crooked walls and inexistence of proper restaurant equipment and air-conditioning led us to many challenges that were solved through extensive use of different
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
this design is based on respecting its users as very special guests and the space follows this objective by use of luxury materials and lighting.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The planning phase started in December 2016 and underwent execution a month later, finishing in February 2017

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
high-tech and industrial design style principles in Karoba, led to employ various materials and elements such as copper for counter tops, natural stone for wash basins, antique sewing machine for basin foots, concrete columns, silver leaves for entrance gate and iron tread plates for stairs.

Split-leveled 250 square meter of commercial space

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
I did a filed survey of other f&b concepts in the district to make sure that the design is not repeating their techniques and methods.
I used photography and direct observation to make my data base.
CHALLENGE:
The fusion and synthesizing of various design styles without falling in to inharmonious combination was in need of a creative approach.
