| DESIGN NAME: Luna Nudo Gusta PRIMARY FUNCTION: Restaurant and Bar INSPIRATION: For Luna Gusta we took inspiration from the vibrant Mediterranean color palette using yellow gold blue and green hues representing the sun ocean and landscape creating a garden in the sky feel bathed in natural light which permeates through the large windows of the facade. For Luna Nudo the look was inspired by old world glamour and jazz clubs of 1930s where luxury was a way of life for the wealthy. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: A luxurious lounge bar restaurant creates a sense of awe through a glamorous sense of style in a beautiful volume of space. The bar plays a pivotal role in this space incorporating materials to create a facade further enhancing the glam quotient with a bar back display with soft lighting, antique mirror, hints of rich metal finishes and soft furnishings. The Mediterranean look for Luna Gusta incorporates the hues of the ocean, sun and greenery creating a garden in the sky bathed in light. Materials like tinted mirrors, hints of rich metal finishes and soft furnishings, high pile carpets add a touch of warmth and homeliness. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Luna Nudo has a multi-functional purpose, it functions as a early evening bar for guests to enjoy an after-work drink while watching the sunset through large glazed windows. On weekends the bar converts to a high energy pulsating night club. Luna Gusta serves as a modern European restaurant to the bar. Guests arrive at the restaurant through the bar up a dramatic grand staircase. This flow creates an interesting arrival experience. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Narrative Mood Boards Brainstorming Design Inspiration SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The entire space was 5000 Sq.Ft. TAGS: Texture, chic, luxurious, glamorous, dramatic, elegant, timeless, opulent RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Luno Nudo Gusta creates an awe inspiring glamorous and unique sense of style complementing the existing space. Beautifully set tables, bespoke silverware, gold chandeliers, tactile wallpaper, comfortable seating gives the space an opulent European chic feel synonymous with the food being served. Customised furniture as well as soft furnishing compliment the vibe and utility of the space. The tinted mirror wall detail provides the perfect backdrop for an interesting optical bar made of marble and gilded metal. Bevelled mirror panelling has been used to highlight certain features. The mosaic decorative tiles on the walls add a touch of Mediterranean chic dotted with quirky test tubes for botanicals completing the look. High gloss table tops made of carrara marble paired with bespoke metal and wood chairs create intimate table seatings. Dramatic lighting with gilded chandeliers strategically placed on tilted frames dotting the entire ceiling along with architectural lighting elements creates the perfect mood. The PDR is cleverly concealed behind tall hexagonal metallic wine racks adding privacy as well as drama. CHALLENGE: The biggest challenge was to incorporate the new design into an existing highly designed space with a strong identity. The design objective was to amalgamate both the spaces yet keeping each ones identity unique. NAME: Behzad Kharas PROFILE: Graduating as a promising student from Rizvi College of Architecture in the year 2002, Behzad N Kharas began his career in the field of signage. After integrating the nuances of signage he went to Pronith Nath and Associates to inculcate his refined sense of style of design and concept development. In May 2004 he was bestowed with an opportunity to work with the visionary architect Hafeez Contractor. The year of 2005 saw the birth of ThinkBNK. With the first project of designing a villa for a family friend to getting office space to function (from a school friend), the projects of ThinkBNK gradually unfolded one by one. Though projects were progressively increasing, with some projects not seeing the light of the day, ThinkBNK went through a rough patch.The secret of Behzad Kharas’s success is the value he places on honesty, integrity, perseverance and passion for the work he undertakes. These values are in turn infused to the team that he mentors resulting into an excellent outcome. The will to deliver positive growth, rides over all the rough times that are faced by the company. The BNK Group has rapidly diversified into consultancy, contracts and construction ushering in new challenges to take on. |
