| DESIGN NAME: Fantastical Metamorphosis PRIMARY FUNCTION: Projection mapping INSPIRATION: This building was designed by Toyo Ito. We followed the principles of his design concepts to create this Projection mapping piece. Points, Lines, Surfaces are the basic elements for this piece. Also we brought in some natural organic objects to complete this work. Entire project was designed to naturally combine graphics and the building itself. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Fantastical Metamorphosis is an event for the Taichung City Government to celebrate the grand opening of the Taichung Metropolitan Theater designed by Japan’s Toyo Ito. Featuring 2 days of breathtaking Facade Projection Mapping and 2 months of interactive Site-Specific Installations, this launch is an opportunity to draw attention both locally and internationally to Taichung and its unique Theater. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: We created this projection mapping to help the audiences interacted with the building itself. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: This project was created by C4D, After effects and Final Cut. We combined motion graphics, 3D animation and Editing to fulfill the design concept and accomplish this project. Entire video was done in Ultra HD space and used 16 big industrial projector to show on this building. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 124 M x 33 M TAGS: Projection Mapping, 3D Animation, Motion Graphics, Visual Communication RESEARCH ABSTRACT: - CHALLENGE: The biggest challenge for this project is how to make audience and design interact with the building itself.
