| DESIGN NAME: 07:25 PRIMARY FUNCTION: Eyewear INSPIRATION: The special design of 07:25 eyewear is inspired by the similarity of shape between watch frames and glasses frames, watch hands and glasses temples. Technical background is as follows. For wooden eyewear, repetition of fastening and unfastening causes damage to the wood, resulting in poor durability of the wood frame. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: 07:25 is a special eyewear using the wood with the metal as a supplementary material. Wood is usually not used for glasses. It is low in strength, which makes it fragile and its low elasticity makes it difficult to replace lenses. Their innovation of a ‘Metallic rim’ allows us to both reinforce the wood frame and easily change the lenses. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: By opening the screw on the metal part in front of the glasses, the lens can be easily replaced. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in August 2016 in Seoul and finished in July 2017 in Seoul, and was exhibited in Kintex (South Korea) |
