| DESIGN NAME: Hongkai Eastern Verve Club PRIMARY FUNCTION: Entertainment INSPIRATION: Located beside the River Qu in Xi’an, Hongkai Eastern Verve Club is a choice to enjoy a great day with friends. The design brief is simple and concise with “Traditional, modern, fusion design.” Designers’ design concept for this relaxing space began with the exploration of the meaning of Chinese culture. In this club, designers use contemporary artworks and traditional decorations blend with modern furnishings to create a quite ambiance. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: In this design, designers put the social area of the house at ground level, where the garden is located, and the entertainment areas on the underground level. Since traditional is a style that the client wants to convey to the visitors, the designers select pendant lights that pay homage to the ones that are commonly found in Chinese ancient architectures in the lobby. Besides, nature logs are selected as the main material in the whole space, echo the gray stone to create a warm atmosphere OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Hongkai Eastern Verve Club offers a comfortable space where people could relax and enjoy a cup of coffee or a light meal for their leisure time. Through the marble staircases that are hidden at both sides, people could feel the atmosphere of space switch from public to private. On the first floor, a spacious communication zone to drink, socialize and enjoy the ancient culture. The basements provide customers with a more private space to exercise to keep healthy. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The special ceiling in the center of the lobby is made with historic wood and warped like an inverted traditional Italian vaulted brick ceiling to release a visually dynamic atmosphere. A beautiful chandelier is commissioned for the space and made from hand-blown, cut, crystal glasses, enhancing a sense of comfort and relaxation. Other design features on the first floor include an elegant mini bar, the ancient paintings and the art decorations, connecting the collection of art and a beautiful day to a relaxed environment. The basement is divided into different private spaces according to the functions, including gymnasium room, chess room, meeting room and swimming pool, etc. White and gray are the main color in the underground which increases a different with the warm tone of ground floor. The simple and white sofa, marble table and modern humanoid decoration give the space a calm base.Structural elements such as the wave-shape ceiling in swimming room are employed to define the experience of the new space. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Area : 2500square meters TAGS: Entertainment, Club, Leisure, Relax, Traditional, Modern RESEARCH ABSTRACT: In order to realize the concept which include traditional and modern, and execute it effectively，design CHALLENGE: As the tone and main material applied on the first floor and basement are different, hence, the designers need to use an exquisite design skill to create diversified and yet an interrelated interior spaces. In order to create a new and unexpected experience, designers need to question the norm and disrupt the usual design thought process during the designing.
