| DESIGN NAME: The Man PRIMARY FUNCTION: Office INSPIRATION: THE MAN, the visionary behind the inception of MD Corp that has brought to the entertainment industry an impressive repertoire of top rated TV shows and all time highest box office success on the silver screen. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The design of his personal office opens up from the foyer that glorifies his family deity, the sacred Hanuman to bless each day a man being fortified with courage to be aided in battle for his family and all he does. Areas of inspiration through the design flow with an apt backdrop that enhances nostalgia in expression of the Man at work from a black and white picture of a producer at work, oblivious to all but his focus on a movie being produced. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The story started with the designer guiding his client round every part of the site as part of a proactive design briefing session. Together, they establish various points of the Man personal comfort zones at work, relaxation, entertainment and spiritual needs. So specific was the client attention to personalised details that all required from the designer is the gift to transform The Man thoughts and vision of the man to forms and surfaces within a wholesome concept. This flow is best expressed in the spiral staircase that leads to his personal studio and wine bar for entertainment. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Manoj Punjabi, the client carries the reputation as the pioneer of Animation in the art of storytelling with cutting edge techno with inimitable digital programming for the country tech savvy generation. Hence it is hardly surprising that intelligent office facilities from creative LED lighting to AV features are well in place in the office. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The total area: 300sqm Lighting system: Crestron TAGS: office, movie producer, movie, workingspace, jakarta, indonesia RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The understanding of Manoj Punjabi was never through the normal processes of a design brief but a progressive appreciation of his persona, his needs and eccentricities expected from any successful creative entrepreneur as the project progressed from the initial brief to the final flower arrangement and plant in place at completion of the project. With brilliant creative clients, research and results arrived at can, often, be only abstract. How close designer can get to appropriate interpretation in forms and surfaces can only be discovered after they are completed. But, by grace, we made it. CHALLENGE: So passionate was the Man and his spouse together with the designer and his team in playing also the project managers during every critical part of the project progressed, many were the variations along the way. NAME: MD Entertainment PROFILE: Since it's establishment in 2003, MD is currently the biggest production house in Indonesia and has produced many films and serials of quality such as " Bawang Merah Bawang Putih, Cinta Fitri, Tendangan Si Madun, Raden Kian Santang' and many more which have all achieved tremendous success. Some of the soaps and films produced by MD have received prestigious awards at the Panasonic Awards, SCTV Awards, Indonesia Movie Awards, Yahoo OMG Awards etc. Infact, the soap opera Cinta Fitri is the only soap that the former President of Indonesia, Bapak BJ Habibie and his late wife Ibu Ainun religiously watched . How could they not as it was filled with morality and felt close to the lives of the Indonesian community. |
