DESIGN NAME: Aruba Customer Experience Center
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Interior Design
INSPIRATION: Human relationship was the inspiration behind this design. In order for human relationship to flourish and take the center stage, the space itself must serve as a supportive role to that end. When approaching design this way, the space becomes an active, rather than passive tool in the development of diverse customer and employee relationship needs. The result is an interior that acts as a wireless mobility park open to everyone, regardless of labels, ranks or technical know how.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The purpose of the Aruba Customer Experience Center is to create customized experiences for visitors. The space allows Aruba experts and executives to share their company story, build relationships and highlight key products and solutions, all while leaving an impression that is both educational and memorable. The experience of the space focuses not only on providing connectivity, but also allowing Aruba to demonstrate and bridge the gap between the digital and physical environments.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Through the audit, we learned that Customer Experience Center visitors spend 1 -2 days per company when evaluating candidates for potential business. Instead of having the visitors sit in the conference rooms all day, we offered a refreshing experience where the focus could lie in fostering relationships. Guests to Aruba Customer Experience Center enjoy a variety of physical spaces where technology is showcased in real-world applications. Each area has its own nuanced way of showcasing technology that demonstrates the entire process
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in April 2016 and completed in March 2017. The Grand opening was held in April 2017 at the Aruba facility in Santa Clara, California.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Worked directly with Aruba engineers to identify necessary technology to showcase. We created a requirement list of smart technology needs to physical product demonstrative needs. Instead of conventional product displays, we created interactive vignettes where guests experience the real uses of Aruba technology. This provides Aruba customers with two integral experiences. First, the end-user public-facing journey; secondly, the back-end daily technology uses of network administrators.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Approximately 3,100 square meters or 10,000-plus square feet of space

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: In preparation for the design, a creative audit was conducted through a series of interviews with the main stakeholders of Aruba as well as the staff who would work at the Customer Experience Center. By understanding the company culture and its main objectives for having the Customer Experience Center, it helped us create the right design for the spac; one that not only reflected the culture of Aruba, but also met the needs of its staff, which in turn met the goals of its visitors when they visit the center.
CHALLENGE: There were two main creative challenges we faced. One, the building was under construction when the design process began. We had to rely on architectural drawings and our imagination as we created the overall tone and atmosphere of the space. The second challenge was to fulfill and address the company wish list and concerns without ending up in an incoherent hodgepodge of spatial elements. Together with Aruba, we had committed ourselves to place the goals of the visitors above all else.
