RESEARCH ABSTRACT: I started doing research in menswear fabrics, specifically suits fabrics and texture.
I went in Savile Row in London and in a lot of Fabrics shop to study the pattern and the textures, magazines, social media, trade shows, tried to reproduced them by hand mixing pinstripe with herringbone and watercolor splashes.
Then I looked for a super feminine and versatile fabric and chiffon came out.
Choosing Chiffon, my prints are not too heavy and too colorful.
The transparency of the fabric make the prints sober, elegant and classy.
I wanted to create something beautiful, trendy, chic and adaptable for all the women. Those dresses are one size, they can be worn by any type of women.
All pieces are made in chiffon to give to the garments versatility, they indeed, can be worn on the beach with a swimsuit underneath or for a special evening event wearing a slip.
I have very good insight both from social media and shops.
CHALLENGE: Reproduce the textures by hand trying to make them look as much symmetrical and clean as possible.
Also the millions sample on paper, drawing all the possible matches till I found those 3 or 4 perfect one.
The most hard part was excluding some prints and garments because they were too many.
